During
a month of activity in the 4th International Art Workshop 'Glass', MP
realized a project entitled ‘The Glass’. ‘The Glass’ contains two wall
installations and one sculpture, realized by using flat glass in combination
with ceramics.
The first wall installation was composed with the letters/word made from
glass - RIGHT and letters/word made in ceramics - LEFT. The ceramics letters
LEFT were fixed on the wall in the normal writing/reading arrangement
[from left to right], while the glass letters RIGHT were fixed on the
wall in the opposite direction, as if to be read in a mirror. All the
letters are mixed with each other and together make one symbolical, very
personal representation of MP.
The second wall installation was also composed with glass and ceramic
letters. The word HORIZONTAL was made in ceramic and the word VERTICAL
in glass letters. Both words were fixed on the wall according to their
inner semantic and symbolic logic. This installation also represents the
personal symbolism of MP.
The glass sculpture was composed in three, physically independent segments,
all realized in transparent and mirrored glass sheets, which were fixed
to the pedestals at head-height. The first segment was made in an oval
glass sheet with the letter I engraved. In this oval glass the visitor
can see only reflection of himself and the letter I. The second segment
was made in slightly oval glass, with the word THOU engraved. In this
glass the visitor can see the reflection of himself and the metaphorical
transparency of ‘thou’. The third segment of the sculpture was realized
in flat glass with the word WE engraved. In this glass the visitor can
see the reflection of himself and the surrounding space and people in
combination with the word WE.
